Getting started with your Application
Do I need a driving license for car finance?
Yes — you’ll need one of following:
- A valid full UK driving licence, or
- A valid UK provisional licence plus your driving test pass certificate and insurance document
How do I apply?
Our finance is available through our dealer or asset finance broker network and also directly through our Direct Sales team.

Prefer to go through a dealership or broker but still take your finance with Northridge? That works too – just ask the dealer if they’re Northridge approved and if they are, they can send an application to us on your behalf.
If I apply directly, what information do I need about the vehicle I want to buy?
If you’ve already picked a vehicle, it helps to have some details ready. This makes the application process quicker and easier.
What you’ll need:
- The name of the dealer or supplier you’re buying the car from
- The registration number (number plate)
- The chassis number (also called VIN – you can ask your dealer or supplier to give you this)

How to sign your agreement online?
If you’ve the option to sign online, we’ll send you an email with the link to your document. Click the link and follow the steps.
Don’t forget to check your junk or spam folder just in case!
Your signing code
When prompted for this code, look at the bottom of page 3 of your agreement. You’ll see four bold letters in the customer signature box — that’s your code.

How we make our decisions?
When you apply for finance, we look at a few key things:
- The information you gave when applying.
- Whether you’ve fallen behind on your payments with any other credit you may have with us.
- Your credit history.
We use this to understand whether the finance is affordable and right for you.
My finance application was declined. What now?
We know it can be disappointing. If you think there’s been a mistake, you can ask us to take another look. We may ask you for more information or documents to support this.
To request a review, call us on 0800 917 0922. Make sure you have your reference number (found at the top of your letter) ready when you call.
Please note, a review doesn’t guarantee that our decision will change.
Even though we’ve said no, other lenders might still say yes. That’s because each lender makes their own decision in different ways.
